Titanium 6AL-4V-ELI (G 23)
Titanium is ideal for both initial body piercing and healed piercings as it is compliant with the EU Nickel Directive introduced in Europe in 2001. Grade Ti6AL-4V Titanium is biocompatible and has been used since the 1950`s for medical implants. It is available in Highly Polished or Anodised Colors. Titanium is only half the weight of steel and twice as strong.
Black Titanium
Black PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) coating is applied onto TITANIUM body jewelry.
Titanium 6AL-4V-ELI (ASTM F 136)
The unique titanium 6AL-4V-ELI (ASTM F 136), which we use for our own fleXternal production, meets all the requirements of the piercing industry and is therefore wonderfully suitable for initial use. We can of course guarantee traceability through batches here, material tests have been carried out for every single batch, for which there are exact protocols and also certificates on request. fleXternal titanium can be anodised exceptionally well in all imaginable colours of the rainbow.
It is nickel-free and can therefore be used in accordance with the EU nickel guidelines, which were introduced in 2001. The fleXternal titanium is proven to meet all APP requirements for titanium piercing jewellery!
Surgical steel 316L
SS316L is a surgical implant grade that is the most used material for Body Jewellery. Due to the EU Nickel Directive introduced to Europe in 2001, steel is only recommended for healed piercings (releasing less than 0.5ug/cm2/week).
24K real Gold Steel (BG)
24K real Gold is coated using a PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) process. The jewelry is coated in a heated chamber under high vacuum. Electric voltage applied will form a plasma in the chamber and the introduction of various gases produces an ion bombardment. This bombardment atomizes the cathode material (24k real Gold) into tiny substances which are deposited on the jewelry. The result is a hardened layer, which is biocompatible. It can be autoclaved.
Black Steel (BK)
Black PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) coating is applied onto SS316L body jewellery.
Zircon Steel (BZ)
Zircon Gold PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) coating is applied onto SS316L body jewellery. The coating looks very discret.
Rose Gold Steel
Rose Gold PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) coating is applied onto SS316L body jewellery.
Bioplast ®
Bioplast ® is biocompatible, i.e. it is fully tolerated by the body's own tissue. Bioplast ® is pliable and adapts to body contours. Bioplast ® can be shortened to any length. In addition, a thread can be created through any steel or titanium ball by simply screwing it on. Bioplast is also available as a separate push pin system, not compatible with other push pin systems from other manufacturers.
Bioplast ® causes less swelling and inflammation during the healing process of a piercing than e.g. titanium. Bioplast ® shortens the healing process compared to other materials.
Allergic reactions to Bioplast ® are currently unknown. Bioplast ® can be autoclaved. Bioplast ® is available in many trendy colors and can be combined with surgical steel, titanium, silver or gold.
Bioplast® is a suitable material for the initial use of body jewelry (see also at www.bioplast.com). However, care should be taken to change it from time to time, as wear and tear can also occur on the material depending on the customer's use.
925 Silver
Sterling Silver does not require much explantion. We use 925 Sterling silver. Most of our items are rhodium plated, which protects the silver from tarnish and makes it more shiny.
Organisches Material - Organics
Organic body jewellery is made from various natural materials like water buffalo horn, water buffalo bone, different kinds of wood and others. Natural materials are not meant to be worn in unhealed tissue (initial piercings and new stretches). Natural materials are sensitive to changes i heat and humidity. Thus autoclaving, use in saunas or hot display cases (light) is not recommended. Apply oil (jojoba, olive, mineral or Vitamin E oil for example) periodically and prior to use. Natural materials can absorb oils and sweat from the skin and therefore reduce odors.
Pyrex Glass
Medical Grade Pyrex (Borosilicate) is completely non-porous. It is completely hypoallergenic and lead/Barium free. It is an extremely strong glass. It maintains a comfortable temperature in extreme weather conditions and wil not freeze to the ear or crack.
Steve Haworth Silicon
Autoclaving is possible (only Magnet is not possible).
Brass
Brass is used for its bright gold-like appearance and is popular in piercings for its tribal look.
Brass Piercings are used by nature tribes all around the world.
We use a brass alloy from copper, zinc and silver, which is free of any toxic elements such as nickel, lead or cadmium. We do not recommend brass for initial piercings as they may cause irritation for some people.
14K or 18K genuine Gold
We use Gold 14K (585 Gold) and 18K (750 Gold). Besides genuine yellow-gold, we're also offering genuine roségold and whitegold.
We do not use 9K gold as it is not suitable for body Jewelry because of its low content of gold.
UV Acrylic
Acrylic comes either in UV reactive (black light) or as glow in the dark. It is not autoclavable and may crack if soaked in disinfectant chemicals like alcohol or similar. It is not suitable for initial piercing.
Premium Zirkonia
The stones we use under this name are CUBIC ZIRCONIA, cut and polished to perfection. They have all the characteristics of a real diamond with its exceptional cut and sheer brilliance. All stones for our piercings are set by hand and polished by hand.
Cubic Zirconia is relatively inexpensive, and the biggest aspect of the price difference from regular Zirconia is the additional cutting and polishing and machinery used to produce these premium quality stones. The more precisely the facets are cut, the better the light will reflect (sparkle).
The previously long-time and very well-known supplier of Cubic Zirconia and Crystals no longer allows the use of their own name, and so our supplier also had to look for alternatives for body jewelry production.
Our supplier has found the best alternatives that do not compromise the quality of the jewelry and can even add value in comparison, without the branding of the stone being the main focus, but rather the overall quality of the jewelry and the art of adorning the ear and body.
Please take this opportunity to build confidence in the craftsmanship and the quality and artistry of the design.
Additional information about Zirconia: As stated above, Zirconia is currently the most popular substitute for a diamond, as they look identical to the untrained eye. Zirconia, or CZ as it is called, is made of zirconia, a different material than diamonds that although it has a different chemical composition than any other jewel, matches the properties of a diamond. Natural CZ was first discovered in 1899, but it wasn't until the late 1970s that people started making CZ for jewelry purposes. CZ at first impression looks like a diamond, but under close observation there are differences, it has a gravity between 5.6 and 6.0, which means it is 1.6 times that of a diamond. It has a hardness of 8 on the Mohs scale, a refractive index of 2.176 and a dispersive power of 0.060, which means that it is not as hard as a diamond, it is slightly less sparkle. Another point to note is that natural diamonds have impurities that the CZ does not, but is also colorless, which most diamonds are not, but they can be colored by adding metal oxides in the production process. Unlike diamonds, CZ are good thermal insulators, which means they get warm but cannot withstand the same kind of heat that a diamond can, which is a test used to distinguish diamonds from CZ. Care for CZ is important because they are more brittle than diamonds and susceptible to wear and tear such as chipping and scratching over
time.
