Acknowledgements

During the 19 years I lived in Japan, when most of the suspensions were realized, I would like to acknowledge my gratitude for the Support from -

Nobuo Yamagishi, the Director of the Maki, Tamura Galleries and Komai Galleries, Tokyo and the Lumiere Gallery, Yamagata. And H. J. Koellrutter the former Director of the German Cultural Centre, Tokyo.

The early suspensions in Japan would not have been possible without the continued assistance of Takao Saiki, Keisuke Oki and Goji Hamada.

I would also like to express my thanks to all the photographers who documented the Performances and shared their work, especially Shigeo Anzai, Tokyo and Anthony Figallo, Melbourne.

Jim Paffrath, of JP Publications who intuitively recognized the importance of the Suspension Performances and who published the original Obsolete Body / Suspensions / Stelarc book Hand has supported the new publication.

Havve Fjell, who has collaborated and made possible the multiple Body suspensions in Oslo, Dallas and Berlin

PUBLISHER'S NOTE - For continuity and archival reasons, Stretched Skin / Obsolete, Uncertain & Indifferent Body has maintained the General structure and some Images and Texts of the original publication. Obsolete Body / Suspensions / Stelarc was published in 1984. But there were 5 more years of suspensions to publish, the recent Ear On Arm Suspension in 2012 and the multiple Body suspensions of the recent years that have never been included in the artist's Body of word. We have included new Texts by Trudy Barber, Shannon Bell, Ed Scheer, Stahl Stensile and Darren Tofts, with an interview by Joanna Zylinska and Gary Hall.
